Who We Are  

Owned by the credit unions of Alberta, Credit Union Central Alberta is the central banking facility, service bureau and trade association for the credit union system of Alberta.  It is a member-focused financial co-operative committed to providing leadership and support to Alberta’s credit unions. This support ranges from financial and technological products and services to government relations and strategic planning.

Credit Union Central Alberta is located in Calgary, Alberta and represents 45 independent credit unions from across the province, which have over 200 branches serving more than 731,000 members. 

Central has assets over $1.9 billion and approximately 230 staff.  Its ongoing strong financial performance is the result of continued support from the Alberta credit union system and an ongoing commitment to providing quality products and services through teamwork and technology.

Services

Financial Products and Services

One of Central's principle roles is to safeguard the financial stability of the Alberta credit union system by maintaining liquidity at the provincial and national levels as required by regulators and best practice.

Other financial responsibilities include managing credit union liquidity and investments, asset/liability management, financial analysis, lending and audit services.

Strategic Planning/Government Relations

Support is provided to credit unions for corporate planning, government
relations, legal counsel and strategic planning.

Administration Services

This area is responsible for Facility Services, Purchasing and Supplies,  Human Resources (internal), Records Management, and Democracy and Communications.

Audit Services

Audit Services is the service provider of choice for most Alberta Credit Unions who need internal audit services, with deep expertise and a cost efficient approach.  View Audit Services webpage.

Information Technology

Central provides a wide range of information technology services to credit unions and other organizations.  These services are provided through Central's joint venture, Celero Solutions.

Payment and Statement Services

A number of products and services such as cheque processing, electronic payments, and customer internet services are provided through Central's joint venture, CUPS Payment Services (CUPS).
