The Team
The Accounting Team maintains the accounting records and financial reporting systems for Alberta Central and its affiliates, and communicates financial results to senior management, and the respective Audit & Finance Committee and Board of Directors. In addition, the Team coordinates and prepares the annual budget, annual forecast, and year-end results. The Team provides regulatory reports to the Office of the Superintendent of Financial Institutions and Alberta Treasury. The Team is also responsible for income tax reporting, and provincial and federal government commodity tax reporting for Central and its joint ventures.
The Position
The successful candidate will be assisting/performing the following functions:
- Compilation of financial information to comply with financial instrument reporting standards.
- Compilation of monthly and year-end financial information for Alberta Central and its joint ventures.
- Preparation of various balance sheet and income statement reconciliations.
- Assisting in the interim and year-end financial statement audit.
- Preparation of government and regulatory filings and reports.
- Assisting with special projects as assigned.
Requirements
Your cover letter and resume must clearly outline how your credentials meet the following requirements:
- Experience working with ORACLE or similar accounting software applications.
- Strong knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles, particularly financial instruments.
- Holds or is nearing completion of a professional accounting designation.
- Demonstrated success in handling details with a high degree of accuracy.
- Ability to organize workflow to meet tight timelines.
- Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
- Excellent analytical skills and the ability to multi-task.
- Good oral and written communication skills.
- Advanced experience with computerized accounting systems and proficiency with spreadsheet applications.
- Must be bondable.
- Preference will be given to candidates who have experience within a financial institution, and have a willingness to "lead by example", and contribute to a teamwork environment.
