Mountain View Credit Union is a well established and successful Credit Union located in mid-central Alberta serving over 20,000 Members from 11 branch locations.  Mountain View is a full service credit union with assets in excess of $530 million, a strong equity position and a history of operational excellence.

Reporting directly to the President and CEO, the Vice President, Human Resources will have the overall responsibility for the design, development, implementation, and evaluation of the Human Resources Management Programs for the Credit Union.  The key component of this role is to enhance and deliver an overall human resources strategy that will attract, retain, engage and contribute to the performance of the entire staff team.

Key accountabilities include:

  • Facilitate the execution of corporate human resources programs that enhance the quality of the work environment and ensure that the Credit Union fulfils its responsibility as a preferred employer in our communities.
  • Develop and execute unique programs that meet the needs of specialized units within the organization.
  • Design programs and processes that incorporate corporate standards and best practices in all areas including compensation, recognition, training, succession planning, recruitment, retention and performance planning/management.
  • Provide leadership and guidance regarding the human resources management to the management and executive teams.
  • Provide change management support to managers and staff as required by any of the corporate strategies or throughout the implementation process of special projects.
  • Manage third party providers including consultants and training resources.

Key requirements include:

  • Bachelor level degree in Human Resources Management, or a combination of related formal training and experience.
  • A  minimum of 10 years of professional human resources experience, including previous experience in a senior human resources generalist role.
  • Experience in a senior human resources role in the financial services  would be an asset.
  • Solid business acumen and a real understanding of the requirements necessary for results and delivery.
  • A broad knowledge of human resource functions  along with a demonstrated ability to identify needs and offer creative and practical HR solutions.
  • Proven consultation skills – able to sell ideas, negotiate timeframes & outcomes and communicate clearly to stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated leadership attributes including forward thinking, performance driven, innovative, awareness of the environment and personal credibility.
  • Enthusiastic team player with a proven record of success who wants to be part of a team dedicated to growth and to continuous improvement.
  • Excellent oral communication and presentation skills.
